"After months of venturing into areas of New Orleans ravaged by Katrina, I took heart at the signs of people slowly returning, restoring their homes and lives.  To symbolize this life being breathed back into the city, I chose as a subject the traditional New Orleans marching jazz band and the “second line” of people who follow them.  Despite the jubilation, strong memories about the suffering wrought by Katrina hover above."        By Rolland Golden
