"A large percentage of people, who stayed in New Orleans for Katrina, did so because they had no choice; no vehicle and no money.  This lady has been forced from her home and is trying to reach the refuge “of last resort” as Mayor Nagin called it, the superdome.

     Compositionally, the black suitcase is balanced by the yellow bag; the hanging strap counters the telephone pole, while the outstretched hand breaks this formality and emphasizes her moving forward."                By Rolland Golden
