"I tried to imagine the shock the first wave of refugees would have felt upon their return to New Orleans at the sight of devastation before them.
A brown haze still hung over New Orleans in October, in the most affected areas a strange unpleasant odor joined the haze. I tied Halloween into the painting with the use of black and varying degrees of orange, traditional Halloween colors." By Rolland Golden
